Vozinha transfer value surges tenfold after standout 2026 World Cup displays

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has seen his market value increase tenfold following a standout 2026 World Cup, with the 40-year-old now attracting interest from Chilean giants Colo-Colo after leaving GD Chaves.

Free agent Vozinha, whose contract with Portuguese side Chaves recently expired, has experienced a dramatic rise in his valuation on the transfer market in the wake of his performances at the tournament.

According to specialist website Transfermarkt, the Cape Verde international’s estimated value climbed from €50,000 before the World Cup to €500,000 once the competition had concluded.

The goalkeeper, a key figure for the team known as the Blue Sharks, was one of the central figures in Cape Verde’s historic campaign.

He produced a heroic display in the group stage against Spain, helping his side secure a 0-0 draw and earning widespread praise for his shot-stopping and composure under pressure.

Vozinha then delivered another high-profile performance in the round of 32 against Argentina, where he again distinguished himself with several decisive interventions. Despite his efforts, Cape Verde were eliminated after extra time in a 3-2 defeat.

His consistent form across the tournament led to him being regarded as one of the revelations of this World Cup, particularly given his age and the underdog status of his national team.

Interest from South America

With no club currently, the experienced goalkeeper is now the subject of growing interest on the transfer market.

French outlet Footmercato reports that Colo-Colo are closely monitoring his situation as they consider a move to bring him to Chile.

A potential switch to the Chilean top flight would mark a new chapter in a long professional career that has now been revitalised by his World Cup performances.

For Vozinha, whose displays in Qatar have significantly enhanced both his reputation and his market value, the coming weeks are likely to be decisive in determining his next destination.
