Kaizer Chiefs sign Tanzania captain Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko in landmark move

Kaizer Chiefs have made history by signing Tanzanian international Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko from Azam FC, in a deal that sees the midfielder become the first player from Tanzania to join the Soweto giants.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder moves to Amakhosi for an undisclosed fee ahead of the 2026/27 Premier Soccer League season, after what the club described as “successful negotiations” with Azam.

“Kaizer Chiefs have secured the services of Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko from Tanzanian giants, Azam FC for an undisclosed fee, following successful negotiations between the two Clubs,” the club announced on X.

“The 27-year-old defensive midfielder, who was captain at Azam, becomes the first player from Tanzania to join Amakhosi. His arrival adds to the impressive list of players from over 20 different African countries who have worn the famous Gold & Black jersey.”

The move underscores Chiefs’ continued strategy of recruiting established talent from across the continent as they attempt to rebuild their squad and challenge more strongly in domestic and continental competitions.
