Kaizer Chiefs sign Tanzania captain Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko in landmark move

Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of Tanzanian midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko from Azam FC, making him the first player from Tanzania ever to join the Soweto giants.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder arrives for an undisclosed fee after what the club described as “successful negotiations” with Azam FC. His capture is Chiefs’ third addition of the current transfer window, following the arrivals of defender Thabo Moloisane and goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner.

Chiefs confirmed the deal in an official statement, saying they had “secured the services of Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko from Tanzanian giants, Azam FC for an undisclosed fee, following successful negotiations between the two Clubs.”

The move further strengthens Chiefs’ midfield options as the club continue rebuilding their squad ahead of the new campaign.

“The 27-year-old has represented Tanzania’s national team on five ocassions,” Chiefs confirmed, underscoring his status as an established international rather than a developmental prospect.

Known primarily as a defensive midfielder, Bitegeko is expected to bring steel, organisation and composure in front of the back four – an area Chiefs have been keen to reinforce after inconsistent performances in recent seasons.
