Kawkab Marrakech begin new era with squad reinforcements ahead of new season
Kawkab Marrakech have started preparations for the upcoming sporting season by making key changes to their squad and technical staff as the club looks to build a more competitive and stable team.
The Marrakech-based side has moved quickly in the transfer market, completing the signings of striker Jawad Ghabra and midfielder Mahmoud Al-Qaysoumi as part of efforts to strengthen the squad before the new campaign begins.
Ghabra arrives after Tanger contract talks collapse
Kawkab secured the services of Ghabra after negotiations between the player and Ittihad Tanger over a contract extension failed to reach an agreement.
The Marrakech club took advantage of the situation and moved to finalise a deal with the striker after reaching an agreement on both financial and contractual terms.
The arrival of Ghabra is expected to add more attacking options as Kawkab prepare for the challenges of the new season.
Bahrain-based midfielder joins squad
The club also strengthened its midfield options with the signing of Mahmoud Al-Qaysoumi from Bahrain’s Al-Hidd Club.
Alongside the new arrivals, Kawkab Marrakech have also worked to maintain stability by renewing the contracts of goalkeeper Nawfal Ait Oubna and winger Saleh Al-Salami.
The club believes retaining key members of the squad will provide an important foundation ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Reda Hakam replaces Dmia as head coach
Kawkab Marrakech have also made a change in the dugout, appointing Moroccan coach Reda Hakam as the new head coach of the first team.
Hakam replaces Hicham Dmia, who departed after the conclusion of last season.
The new coach has been given significant responsibility in shaping the squad, with the authority to oversee recruitment decisions in coordination with the club president and management.
New project begins despite fan disappointment
Dmia’s departure was met with disappointment from sections of the Kawkab supporters, who wanted him to remain after crediting him with helping restore stability to the team.
However, the club’s management has decided to begin a new chapter under Reda Hakam, hoping the new technical project will improve competitiveness and help Kawkab Marrakech achieve their ambitions next season.
