PSG keen to extend Achraf Hakimi's contract

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly considering offering Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi a new contract as they look to secure the future of one of their most influential players.

Te Ligue 1 champions are keen to extend the defender’s current deal, which runs until 2029, following his impressive contributions since arriving at the Parc des Princes in 2021.

PSG’s management are understood to have already sounded out the possibility of opening discussions with the player’s representatives regarding a potential contract extension.

However, negotiations are reportedly yet to begin in earnest, with Hakimi and his entourage believing there is sufficient time to address his contractual future given that his existing agreement still has several years to run.

The club’s reported interest in extending his stay is said to be unrelated to the Moroccan’s ongoing legal situation.

Hakimi was recently referred to stand trial over rape allegations following a decision by the French Court of Cassation. The trial could take place in 2027.

The 27-year-old has consistently denied the allegations and maintains his innocence. The matter remains subject to legal proceedings, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Despite the legal situation, PSG are reportedly keen to maintain their commitment to the Moroccan defender, who has become an important figure in Luis Enrique’s squad.

Since joining the French giants from Inter Milan in 2021, Hakimi has developed into one of the most influential attacking full-backs in European football, combining defensive responsibilities with his pace, creativity and ability to contribute goals.

His importance to the team was further demonstrated in PSG’s 5-1 victory over Le Havre, where he captained the side and delivered an outstanding attacking performance.

The Moroccan international was directly involved in five goals, scoring three times and providing two assists to help his team secure an emphatic victory.

His performance once again underlined the attacking quality and leadership he brings to the Parisian side.

With PSG reportedly eager to extend his contract, Hakimi’s future is expected to remain an important subject of discussion, although the player and his representatives appear in no rush to enter negotiations.

For now, the Moroccan remains under contract until 2029, with PSG hoping to keep him at the club beyond his current agreement.
