Egyptian side National Bank FC push to sign Moroccan playmaker Saber Bougrine
Moroccan attacking midfielder Saber Bougrine is closing in on a move to the Egyptian Premier League after National Bank FC stepped up efforts to sign the former Raja Casablanca player during the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Raja Casablanca at the end of last season, making him an attractive option for clubs seeking experienced reinforcements.
Reports indicate that a representative of the Egyptian club is currently in Morocco holding discussions with Bougrine’s agent in an effort to finalise the deal, with negotiations focusing primarily on the financial terms of the proposed contract.
Egyptian club eager to complete deal
National Bank FC have identified the Moroccan as one of their priority targets this transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Bougrine’s versatility across attacking midfield positions, combined with his experience in domestic leagues and continental competitions, has made him a key transfer target for the Egyptian side.
Raja exit opened the door
Bougrine’s departure from Raja Casablanca came after contract renewal talks broke down, with both parties unable to reach an agreement on financial terms.
The club has been working to reduce its wage bill as part of a broader strategy aimed at maintaining a more balanced financial structure.
Despite his exit, Bougrine leaves Raja after a successful spell that began in 2022, helping the Casablanca club win the Botola Pro title and the Throne Cup while establishing himself as one of the team’s key performers.
Wealth of experience
Before joining Raja, Bougrine built an extensive career that included spells with Mouloudia Oujda, AS FAR, France’s Paris FC, Luxembourg side F91 Dudelange and Tunisian giants Espérance de Tunis.
His performances across North African and European football have earned him a reputation as an experienced creative midfielder, and he now appears set to begin the next chapter of his career in Egypt.
