Kaizer Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi pens emotional farewell to Gaston Sirino after exit
Kaizer Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi has paid an emotional tribute to former teammate Gaston Sirino following the veteran attacker’s departure from the Soweto giants.
Sirino officially left Amakhosi after the club opted not to renew his contract when it expired at the end of last month, bringing his spell with the Glamour Boys to an end.
Currently with the Kaizer Chiefs squad at their pre-season training camp in Spain, Vilakazi took to social media to express his gratitude to the Uruguayan-born forward, revealing the significant impact Sirino had on both his football career and personal life.
The highly-rated midfielder described sharing the dressing room with the experienced attacker as a dream come true and admitted he would greatly miss his former teammate.
“Since joining this club I learned a lot from you on and off the field. It was a dream to share the dressing room with you I’ll miss you a lot!” Vilakazi wrote.
He continued by thanking Sirino for the guidance and mentorship he received during their time together at Naturena.
“God bless your path always you’ve shaped my career and my life, more than you probably realise thank you for everything. I love you forever bro.”
Vilakazi’s heartfelt message highlights the close bond the pair developed during Sirino’s time at Chiefs, with the experienced attacker clearly playing a mentoring role for the club’s emerging talents.
Sirino’s departure marks the end of a chapter at Kaizer Chiefs as the club continues reshaping its squad ahead of the new campaign. While his time at Amakhosi has come to an end, his influence appears to have left a lasting impression on younger players like Vilakazi, who openly acknowledged the invaluable lessons he learned from the former Mamelodi Sundowns star both on and off the pitch.
As Chiefs continue their preparations in Spain, Vilakazi and his teammates will now turn their attention to the upcoming season, while Sirino begins the next stage of his career after receiving an emotional send-off from one of the players he inspired most.
