Yacouba Dembele: Saudi-Malian winger joins Ghaz Al-Shamal from Golan SC in Iraq Stars League move
Saudi-Malian winger Yacouba Dembele has joined Ghaz Al-Shamal from league rivals Golan SC, completing a move that keeps him in the Iraq Stars League. The 25-year-old left-sided attacker, who was born in Medina and is comfortable cutting in from the flank on his right foot, links up with his new club after a spell of top-flight experience in Saudi Arabia.
Dembele switches to Ghaz Al-Shamal having spent last season with Golan SC, whom he joined in October 2025 following a free transfer from Al-Qwarah. His move marks the latest step in a career that has taken him from Saudi youth football into senior roles across multiple clubs in the region.
The left winger previously developed at Al-Taawoun, progressing from the clubs U19 side into the first team in 2021. He later moved on a series of free transfers within Saudi Arabia, first to Al-Saqer in 2023 and then to Al-Qwarah in 2024, before making the jump to Iraqi football with Golan.
Standing at 1.74m, Dembele offers Ghaz Al-Shamal an option on the left of attack with experience in both domestic league action and regional competitions. He has already featured in the Saudi Pro League, making 14 appearances there earlier in his career.
Dembeles arrival is officially recorded as a completed transfer on 10 July 2026, securing his services for Ghaz Al-Shamal ahead of the new Iraq Stars League campaign.
