Jose Mourinho backs Aurelien Tchouameni for new Real Madrid deal
Real Madrid are treating Aurelien Tchouameni as more than just a midfielder, with Jose Mourinho reportedly pushing hard for a new deal because he sees the Frenchman as a future leader.
The club want a long-term captain to help carry the post-Carvajal era, and Tchouaméni is now being viewed as one of the strongest candidates for that role.
The move would mark another big step in a Madrid career that began when he arrived from Monaco in July 2022 for a fee that could rise to €100 million with add-ons. He made an immediate impression by coming off the bench in the UEFA Super Cup against Eintracht Frankfurt as Madrid lifted the trophy 2-0.
Since then, he has steadily grown in importance. His first goal for the club came in September 2023, when he headed in during a 3-0 win away to Girona, a reminder that he can influence games at both ends of the pitch. Mourinho’s faith now suggests Madrid see him not only as a regular starter, but as part of the next leadership group inside the dressing room.
