Modibo Sagnan joins Rizespor permanently

Malian international defender Modibo Sagnan has completed a permanent move to Turkish Süper Lig side Çaykur Rizespor after impressing the club during his loan spell last season.

Rizespor officially secured the services of the 27-year-old centre-back, who has signed a two-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2028.

The Turkish club decided to make the transfer permanent after being convinced by Sagnan’s performances throughout the previous campaign. His consistency, defensive qualities and leadership at the back played a key role in earning him a long-term deal.

Sagnan initially joined Rizespor on loan, where he quickly adapted to Turkish football and became an important figure in the team’s defensive setup. During his temporary spell, the Mali international contributed not only defensively but also in attack, registering one goal and one assist in the Turkish league.

His performances convinced Rizespor’s management that he could be a valuable asset for the club as they continue their preparations for future Süper Lig campaigns.

The former youth international has built a reputation as a strong and composed defender, with experience from different European leagues adding to his profile. His physical presence, aerial ability and reading of the game have made him a reliable option at centre-back.

For Sagnan, the permanent transfer provides stability and the opportunity to continue developing in Turkey, where he has already established himself as an important member of the squad.

Rizespor will be hoping the Malian defender can maintain his high level of performance and help the club achieve their objectives in the upcoming seasons. His experience at both club and international level is expected to be valuable as they aim to compete strongly in the Turkish top flight.

The deal also represents a reward for Sagnan’s impressive adaptation to Turkish football, with Rizespor showing their confidence in his ability by committing to him until 2028.

With the transfer now completed, the Mali international is set to continue his journey in the Süper Lig, where he will look to play a central role in Rizespor’s ambitions while further cementing his reputation as one of Mali’s established defenders.
