Cyril Ngonge: Napolis Belgian-DR Congo winger linked with Palermo move

Cyril Ngonge, the Belgian-DR Congo right winger currently at Napoli, is being linked with a move to Serie B side Palermo as the Sicilian club explore options to strengthen their attack.

Ngonge remains under contract with Napoli until June 2028 and is valued at around 7m, meaning any deal would require Palermo to negotiate with the Serie A champions for either a transfer or a loan arrangement. At this stage, the interest is understood to be exploratory, with no agreement in place.

The 26-year-old joined Napoli from Hellas Verona in January 2024 for a fee of 20m and went on to become part of a squad that secured the Italian league title in the 2024-25 season. Despite that, his time in Naples has been punctuated by loan spells, most recently at Torino and Espanyol over the past campaign.

Ngonge has built a reputation as a direct, left-footed winger capable of operating from the right, with his best goalscoring form arriving in the Eredivisie, where he scored 15 goals and provided five assists in 62 appearances. In Serie A, he has accumulated 84 appearances with 11 goals and five assists, underlining his experience at the top level in Italy even if his output has fluctuated.

Spells in Spain with Espanyol and earlier in the Netherlands with RKC Waalwijk and FC Groningen have added versatility to his profile, while his early development at Club Brugge and PSVs youth ranks marked him out as a technically gifted wide forward. A move to Palermo would represent a step down in division but could offer the regular minutes that have been harder to secure during his recent loans.

For now, Ngonge remains a Napoli player, tied to a long-term deal and coming off a season as part of a Scudetto-winning squad, with Palermo monitoring his situation as they weigh up a potential approach.
