Senegal striker Bamba Dieng set for Al Shabab move
Senegal international Bamba Dieng is on the verge of completing a move to the Saudi Pro League, with Al Shabab FC reportedly closing in on the signing of the free-agent striker.
Dieng has been without a club since July 1 after parting ways with FC Lorient, but the 24-year-old is now expected to begin a new chapter in his career in Saudi Arabia.
According to reports, Al-Shabab have reached the final stages of negotiations to secure the services of the Senegalese centre-forward, with the deal now nearing completion.
The Riyadh-based club are reportedly preparing a three-year contract for Dieng, who is expected to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new Saudi Pro League season.
The proposed move comes after Dieng became a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Lorient, allowing interested clubs to negotiate directly with the player without paying a transfer fee.
Known for his pace, movement and finishing ability, Dieng has built valuable experience in European football and will be aiming to make an immediate impact if the move is completed.
A switch to Al-Shabab would also see the Senegal international join the growing list of African stars making the move to the Saudi Pro League, a competition that has continued to attract established talents from across Europe in recent transfer windows.
With negotiations understood to be at an advanced stage, an official announcement is expected soon as Al-Shabab move closer to confirming the signing of the former Lorient striker on a long-term deal.
