Adam Tahaui: NEC Nijmegen Sign Vitesse Midfielder in 650k Deal

NEC Nijmegen have completed the signing of central midfielder Adam Tahaui from Vitesse in a deal worth 650,000. The 20-year-old moves across the Netherlands to join the Eredivisie club with an estimated market value of 500,000 at the time of the transfer.

Tahaui arrives at NEC after progressing from Vitesses youth ranks into their first team. The left-footed central midfielder, who stands at 1.84m, had been on the books of the Arnhem side since 2020, initially joining their youth system from FC Utrechts academy before stepping up to Vitesses under-18s and under-21s and then the senior squad.

Born in Utrecht on 21 July 2005, Tahaui holds both Moroccan and Dutch nationality. His development at Vitesse has coincided with a rapid rise in his valuation, which climbed from 25,000 in late 2024 to 500,000 by May 2026, underlining his growing status in Dutch football.

The move also represents a step up in league status for Tahaui. He leaves Vitesse, currently competing in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, to join NEC in the Eredivisie. That shift gives the young midfielder a platform at the top level of the Dutch game after establishing himself within Vitesses structure.

Tahauis early career featured a long spell in Utrecht, starting out at Zwaluwen Utrecht 1911 before moving into FC Utrechts youth set-up, from where Vitesse recruited him as a teenager. His transfer to NEC marks his first permanent move away from the Vitesse system since that switch six years ago.

With the deal confirmed on 7 July 2026, Tahaui is now registered as an NEC Nijmegen player ahead of the 2026-27 Eredivisie season.
