Galatasaray eye Midtjyllands Senegal defender Ousmane Diao in 8m move
Senegal centre-back Ousmane Diao of FC Midtjylland is being linked with a summer move to Turkish giants Galatasaray as speculation grows over the 22-year-olds future in Denmark.
The Super Lig club are monitoring the defender, who is valued at 8.00m on Transfermarkt, with the move currently listed with an unspecified probability (?) and no confirmed fee or agreement between the sides. Diaos contract situation at Midtjylland is unclear, with no expiry date publicly recorded, which has fuelled rumours that he could yet move on in a cut-price deal rather than risk running down his terms and moving closer to free-agent status.
Diao, who was born in Mbacke on 8 June 2004 and stands at 1.87m, has developed rapidly since arriving in Europe. A right-footed specialist at centre-back, he left Senegalese outfit Academie Foot Darou Salam for Portuguese side CD Mafra in January 2023, before earning a switch to Midtjylland on 1 July 2024.
His progress has been reflected in a steep rise in market value. Rated at 250,000 in June 2023 during his early months at Mafra, Diao climbed to 750,000 by December and 1m in June 2024. Since joining Midtjylland his valuation has surged, hitting 4m in December 2024 and reaching 8m by December 2025, a level maintained in the latest update on 25 May 2026.
In the current Superliga campaign, Diao has been a regular in Midtjyllands back line. In their most recent league outing a 1-1 draw against Brndby on 1 June 2026 he completed the full 90 minutes at centre-back, contributing to a disciplined defensive display despite the shared points.
Any move to Istanbul would see the Senegalese defender swap the Danish Superliga for the Super Lig, and, if it materialises, could mark the next major step in a career that has already accelerated quickly across three countries in three years.
