Anderson Gomes: Aspis Pylas Re-Sign PortugalCape Verde Winger from Omonia Psevda on Free Transfer

Aspis Pylas have completed the signing of PortugalCape Verde right winger Anderson Gomes from Cypriot side Omonia Psevda on a free transfer, with his contract at the Pylas club running from 2026-07-05 to 2027-06-30.

The move is confirmed in the Cypriot registration records, with Gomes returning to Aspis Pylas after a short spell at Omonia Psevda. The deal is listed as a free transfer, with no market value recorded for the 20-year-old, underlining how little financial risk Aspis Pylas are taking on a player still in the early stages of his senior career.

Gomes, who holds both Portuguese and Cape Verdean nationality, is registered primarily as an attacking right winger and prefers to operate on his right foot. Standing at 1.87m, he offers an uncommon blend of height and wide attacking profile, a combination that can be useful both in open play and at set pieces in the Cypriot pyramid, where physical presence often matters.

This is the second time in the same year that Gomes has moved between the two Cypriot clubs. He first joined Omonia Psevda from Aspis Pylas on 2026-01-31, before the latest switch took him back to Aspis Pylas on 2026-07-05. Both transfers are recorded as standard deals, with no fee specified, indicating that he has effectively circulated between the clubs without a transfer sum changing hands and leaving open the possibility that he could become a free agent again when his current agreement ends on 2027-06-30.

The wingers trajectory over the past few seasons shows a rapid shift from Portuguese youth football to the lower tiers of the Cypriot game. Born in Lisboa on 21 Oct 2005, Gomes came through the youth ranks at AD Oeiras Sub-17 before stepping up to FC Alverca U19 on 2022-07-01. He then moved within Portugal to CD Santa Claras academy structure, first joining their U19 side on 2024-01-01 and earning a promotion to CD Santa Clara U23 on 2024-07-01.

His first experience outside Portugal came when he left CD Santa Clara U23 for CD Olivais e Moscavide on 2025-01-01, still within Portuguese football but closer to senior competition. Later that year he made the decisive move abroad, heading to Cyprus to sign for Spartakos Kiti on 2025-07-23. A further transfer within Cyprus took him from Spartakos Kiti to Aspis Pylas on 2025-09-01, marking the beginning of a sequence of domestic switches that have now brought him back to Pylas from Omonia Psevda.

None of his recent appearances, goals, assists or specific match performances are documented in the current data, and no league is specified for either Omonia Psevda or Aspis Pylas beyond a generic N/A competition designation. What is clear, however, is that Gomes has already settled into life abroad, trading youth-level football in Portugal for senior opportunities in Cyprus at a relatively young age.

With no official market valuation attached to his name and a contract at Aspis Pylas due to expire on 2027-06-30, the coming seasons in Cyprus will be pivotal in determining whether Gomes can convert a series of modest, cost-free transfers into a more stable role and a stronger reputation in European football.
