Leonel Wamba: El Masry linked with move for Cameroon striker from Al-Wahda

Cameroon centre-forward Leonel Wamba, who currently plays for UAE Pro League side Al-Wahda, is being linked with a move to Egyptian Premier League club El Masry.

The 23-year-old, born in Foreke Dschang and standing at 1.85m, has emerged as a rumoured target for the Port Said side, with Transfermarkt listing his current market value at 350,000 (350k). The reported probability of the deal remains unclear, with the move marked only as ? on 5 July 2026.

Wamba has just returned to Al-Wahda following a loan spell at fellow Emirati club FC Baniyas, with the loan ending on 30 June 2026. His contract situation at Al-Wahda is not publicly specified, and with no expiry date recorded, speculation has included the prospect that he could become available on favourable terms compared with a longer, fixed deal elsewhere.

The forwards value has dipped from a peak of 750,000 during his time at Algerian champions CR Belouizdad to its current 350,000, assessed in May 2026 while at Baniyas. That trajectory has encouraged suggestions El Masry may see him as a relatively low-cost option in the current market.

Wambas career has taken him from Aigle Royal de la Menoua and Dragon Club de Yaounde in Cameroon to Latvian side FK Spartaks Jurmala in 2020, before moving to Belouizdad in 2022 and then Al-Wahda in August 2024. He predominantly operates as a central striker, is right-footed and is listed solely as a Cameroon national.

Recent data from Transfermarkt does not provide detailed match-by-match statistics, so his latest appearances, opponents and scorelines are not fully documented. However, El Masrys interest, if it develops into a formal offer, would give Wamba another cross-continental move at a key stage of his career, potentially reshaping his reputation in North African football.
