Vozinha: Free-agent Cape Verde goalkeeper linked with Al-Diraiyah FC move
Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, currently a free agent after leaving Portuguese side GD Chaves, is being linked with a switch to Saudi Arabian club Al-Diraiyah FC.
The 40-year-old, born in Mindelo and standing at 1.89m, is without a club following the expiry of his deal at Chaves on 1 July 2026 and is available on a free transfer. Transfermarkt lists his current market value at 50,000, a relatively modest figure that could make him an attractive short-term option.
Al-Diraiyah, who compete in Saudi Arabia and are associated with the Saudi Pro League landscape, are reported to be exploring the possibility of signing the veteran keeper, though the probability of the move is currently listed as ? and no agreement has been confirmed.
Vozinha rejoined Portuguese football with Chaves in July 2024 after a two-year spell in Slovakia with AS Trencin, having previously spent five seasons with AEL Limassol in Cyprus. Before that, he featured for Gil Vicente in Portugals second tier and FC Zimbru Chisinau in Moldova, following earlier stints in Angola with Progresso do Sambizanga and in his homeland with Batuque FC and CS Mindelense.
His long career across Europe has seen his market value peak at around 600,000 during his time at AEL Limassol in 2018, gradually declining in line with age to its current 50,000 level, last updated in June 2026 while he was still at Chaves.
Most recently, he turned out for Chaves in the 2025-26 campaign in Portugal, with his final months at the club preceding his release as a free agent this summer. Specific Saudi reports suggest Al-Diraiyah are assessing his profile, and if a deal materialises, a move to the Gulf would extend a career that has already spanned more than 15 years and multiple leagues.
