Arthur Zwane says the backing he has received from AmaZulu owner Sandile Zungu and the club’s board has given him the freedom to build a team playing with confidence and tactical clarity.
The coach has overseen an impressive start to the campaign, with AmaZulu sitting third in the Betway Premiership and several key statistics reflecting their progress.
Zungu and the Usuthu board have created a supportive environment in which Zwane has been able to implement his footballing philosophy. That trust has translated into consistent performances and measurable success on the pitch.
“It’s always good to be in an environment where you enjoy yourself, and the players as well,” Zwane told the media at the Carling Knockout draw.
“That self-belief that things can go our way. So far, so good. We just need to continue where we left off. We need to keep on grinding the results because these games, when they come, they come pretty fast.
“So you’ve got to be ready for each and every game that you come across.”
The figures underline Zwane’s positive assessment of AmaZulu’s progress.
According to FotMob, Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya is the Betway Premiership’s leading scorer, having scored eight goals. AmaZulu also have one of the division’s most productive creators, with Nkosikhona Radebe joint-top for assists after providing four.
Usuthu’s defensive record has been equally encouraging. They have kept four clean sheets, the third-highest total in the league, while their average of 12.0 interceptions per match ranks second across the division.
AmaZulu’s attacking numbers also point to a side capable of creating sustained pressure. Athini Maqokola has created 50 big chances, while the team ranks third for chances created per match, with an average of 30.5.
Those statistics highlight the effectiveness of Zwane’s approach, both in possession and during attacking transitions, as AmaZulu continue to challenge near the top of the standings.
