Liverpool is determined to keep Rio Ngumoha

Liverpool have no intention of selling teenage star Rio Ngumoha and plan a new long-term deal once he turns 18, rewarding his record-breaking rise under Arne Slot.

Liverpool have no plans to cash in on Rio Ngumoha, despite reported interest from Bayern Munich, with The Athletic indicating the club see him as a key part of their future. The Reds intend to offer the winger a new long-term contract as soon as he turns 18 in late August, removing the term limits that applied to his first professional deal signed a year ago.

Ngumoha’s rapid rise explains Liverpool’s firm stance. During the 2024-25 season under Arne Slot, he earned early first-team call-ups and began training regularly with the senior squad from November 2024, underlining the club’s belief in his potential.

His breakthrough came on 11 January 2025, when he started in a 4-0 FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley at Anfield, becoming the youngest player ever to start a first-team game for Liverpool and their youngest FA Cup participant at 16 years and 135 days, completing three successful dribbles in 63 minutes.

On 25 August 2025, Ngumoha made his Premier League debut away to Newcastle United, coming off the bench to score a dramatic 100th‑minute winner in a 3–2 victory. That goal made him Liverpool’s youngest‑ever goalscorer at 16, reinforcing the sense at Anfield that he is a cornerstone of their next generation.
