World Cup 2026: Haiti rally troops for ‘final battle’ against Morocco after exit heartbreak

Haiti’s hopes of reaching the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup may be over, but the country’s football federation has urged the Grenadiers to channel their disappointment into one last fight when they face Morocco in their final group match.

Following Haiti’s defeat to Brazil, which confirmed their elimination from the tournament, the Haitian Football Federation issued an emotional message to players and supporters, acknowledging the pain of the result while reaffirming its faith in the national team.

Federation backs players despite exit

The federation recognised the frustration felt across the nation after another difficult night at the World Cup but stressed that the players deserved respect for their efforts on football’s biggest stage.

“Football can bring joy, but it can also bring tears. Last night, the result did not go the way we had all hoped, and we understand the feelings of every fan who supported Haiti,” the statement read.

Rather than focusing solely on the outcome, the federation praised the commitment shown by the squad throughout the campaign, highlighting the pride with which they represented their country.

“In moments like these, we choose to honor the effort and commitment of our Grenadiers, who continue to represent our flag with dignity. The road is not always easy, but our respect for these brave men who continue to fight for their country remains the same.”

Eyes turn to Morocco showdown

While Haiti can no longer progress from Group C after defeats to Scotland and Brazil, the federation made it clear that the tournament is not over for the Caribbean nation.

Attention has now shifted to Wednesday’s meeting with Morocco, a fixture being viewed as an opportunity to restore pride and leave the competition with a positive result.

“There are lessons to learn and work to be done, and one final battle awaits us against Morocco on Wednesday, June 24,” the federation said.

The clash offers Haiti a chance to reward their loyal supporters with a strong performance and avoid leaving the World Cup without a point.

Fans thanked for support

The federation also reserved special praise for supporters who have stood by the team throughout a challenging campaign.

“Thank you to all the fans who continue to support the team, in good times and in the most difficult moments. We are all Grenadiers.”

Although their World Cup journey is nearing its end, Haiti now have one final opportunity to show their resilience.

Against a powerful Moroccan side, the Grenadiers will aim to turn heartbreak into determination and ensure their farewell to the tournament is remembered for fighting spirit rather than elimination.
