Rafael Leão: Galatasaray linked with €50m move for Portugal-Angola winger from AC Milan

Portugal-Angola left winger Rafael Leão is being linked with a surprise move from AC Milan to Turkish champions Galatasaray, with reports suggesting there is a 60% probability of a deal being pursued this summer.

The 27-year-old, valued at €50.00m on Transfermarkt, is one of Serie A’s most high-profile attackers and currently wears the No 10 shirt for Milan. His contractual situation is unclear, with no expiry date publicly listed, prompting talk that the Italian giants could face a decision over whether to cash in now or risk him edging towards a free-agent scenario further down the line.

Leão, born in Almada on 10 June 1999 and standing at 1.88m, has dual nationality with Portugal and Angola and operates primarily as an attacking left winger, cutting in from the flank on his right foot. He has become a central figure at Milan since his arrival, featuring regularly in Serie A and European competition.

Recent performances continue to keep him in the shop window. In Milan’s latest league outing – a tight encounter earlier this month against a Serie A rival in which Milan were held to a draw – Leão started on the left, stretching play and repeatedly isolating his full-back, though he was unable to add to his goal or assist tally as the match finished level.

Galatasaray’s interest is understood to centre on making Leão the focal point of their attack as they look to strengthen for domestic and European campaigns. Any move would likely require a significant financial package given his €50.00m market valuation and status as one of Milan’s marquee players.

With his peak years ahead of him and uncertainty over his long-term future at San Siro, a switch to Istanbul – if it materialises – could redefine Leão’s career trajectory and test his ability to become the star attraction in a new league.
