Baba Rahman promises strong Ghana performance at World Cup

Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman has pledged that the Black Stars will leave everything on the pitch as they seek to make Ghanaians proud at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The tournament got underway on June 11, with Ghana preparing to open their Group L campaign against Panama on June 17 in a match that could prove decisive in the race for a place in the knockout stages.

The Black Stars are making their fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament after successfully qualifying for the expanded 48-team competition being staged across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Following their opening encounter against Panama, Ghana will face two stern tests against European heavyweights England and 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Baba Rahman expressed appreciation for the unwavering support of Ghanaians and assured fans that the team is fully committed to delivering strong performances on the global stage.

“We thank Ghanaians for the support and prayers. We are going to fight to make Ghanaians proud at the tournament,” he told AshesGyamera.

The experienced defender’s comments reflect the determination within the Black Stars camp as Ghana looks to make a significant impact at the Mundial.

Ghana have not progressed beyond the group stage since their memorable run at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where they reached the quarter-finals and came within a penalty kick of becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals.

Having also featured at the World Cups in 2006, 2014 and 2022, the Black Stars will be hoping the 2026 edition marks the beginning of a new chapter, with Baba Rahman and his teammates eager to reward the faith and expectations of millions of supporters back home.
