Al Ahly close in on Houcine Ammouta appointment
Al Ahly are close to appointing Houcine Ammouta as their new head coach after presenting the Moroccan manager with a financial package designed to secure his signature, as the Egyptian club continues its push to strengthen its sporting project.
The Cairo-based side, one of Africa’s most successful clubs, have made an offer that is understood to include a highly competitive salary structure aimed at bringing in a coach with a strong track record on the continent.
The move reflects Al Ahly’s long-term ambition to maintain dominance domestically while enhancing their competitiveness in continental competitions.
According to Egyptian newspaper Al Youm Al Sabea, the proposed deal is valued at around $120,000 per month, covering Ammouta and his full technical team.
The package is said to include five staff members in total, as the Moroccan coach has requested to work alongside his usual four assistants in order to fully implement his methods.
This coaching structure is expected to allow Ammouta to quickly establish his tactical approach and training philosophy at a club known for its high expectations and demanding standards.
Ammouta, who has built a strong reputation through successful spells at club level and in international football, is regarded as one of the most experienced coaches currently available in African football.
His career has been defined by multiple titles and consistent performances, earning him respect across the continent.
The potential move to Al Ahly is seen as an opportunity for the 54-year-old to take on one of the most high-profile coaching roles in African football.
After a period of reflection, he is understood to be satisfied with the terms on offer, particularly given the scale of the project and the club’s ambitions.
Al Ahly supporters are now awaiting official confirmation, which is expected to be announced in the coming hours if final details are completed without delay.
If concluded, the agreement would represent a significant development for both parties, with Ammouta set to take charge of a squad competing at the highest level in Africa and Al Ahly reinforcing their intent to remain at the top of continental football.
