Adil Boulbina targets Algeria success after challenging first season abroad
Adil Boulbina says he is ready to “do everything” to make Algerian supporters proud if he earns a call-up to the national team for the 2026 World Cup after reflecting on a demanding first season with Al Duhail.
The Algerian winger spoke to WinWin about his first campaign in Qatar, discussing the club’s inconsistent season, his personal adaptation outside Algeria and his international ambitions ahead of next year’s global tournament.
Boulbina admitted that the season had been difficult for his team, with inconsistent results affecting their progress across competitions.
“Our season was difficult because we did not achieve consistent positive results. The team suffered from some inconsistency, but it was not a total failure either,” he said.
Despite the challenges, the winger believes the campaign provided valuable experience for both himself and the club, particularly through participation in major competitions.
“We played some great matches this season, whether in the AFC Elite Champions League or the Qatari league. We will work harder to show a better side next season.”
The move to Qatar represented the first professional experience abroad for the Algerian player, who acknowledged that adapting to a new football environment required patience and adjustment.
Speaking about his own performances, Boulbina said he had tried to contribute as much as possible to the team while recognising there is still room for improvement in his game.
“This is my first professional experience outside of Algeria. I tried to give my best for the team, even though I feel I could have contributed even more. With hard work, the future will be brighter, God willing.”
Attention is now gradually turning towards the 2026 World Cup, where Algeria hope to compete strongly against some of the biggest nations in international football.
Boulbina made it clear that representing his country on that stage remains one of his biggest ambitions.
“We need to prepare well for the tournament. If I receive a call-up, I will do everything to make Algerians happy.”
The winger also expressed confidence in the strength of the Algerian squad despite the difficult nature of the competition awaiting them.
“We have difficult matches in the World Cup, but we also have a solid team, capable of competing with these great nations. I hope that we will live up to the expectations of the Algerian people.”
As preparations for the tournament continue, Boulbina’s comments underline both his determination to establish himself internationally and his belief that Algeria can compete at the highest level.
