Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has rejected reports of a breakdown in his relationship with assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi, saying the club’s environment remains calm and accusing some media outlets of creating problems.
Ouaddou was questioned about the speculation before Orlando Pirates’ next fixture. He referred to an official statement from the club, which confirmed that Ncikazi had undergone surgery and was recovering.
“The club issued a statement about that, he had surgery, so now he’s recovering, I wish him all the best, that’s all I can say,” said Ouaddou.
The Moroccan coach said he was frustrated by reports suggesting there was tension within the coaching staff. He insisted there was no dispute at the club and urged people not to manufacture conflict where none existed.
“We read many things about that, everything is okay in the club, the environment is okay, so people must not start to create any problem,” Ouaddou said.
“There is surgery and I wish him the best, not to create problems. I read many things.”
Ouaddou also referred to a recent public display of affection between himself and Ncikazi, saying it demonstrated that their relationship was in good health.
“Someone who is kissing someone on his head, you cannot start to invent any stories,” he added.
