The South African Football Association (SAFA) has moved to clear the air over reports suggesting that its legal challenge relating to a search and seizure operation conducted by the Hawks at its Nasrec headquarters in Johannesburg has been dismissed.
The raid, which took place on Friday, 8 March 2024, remains the subject of an active court process, according to the football governing body.
In a statement, SAFA stressed that the matter is still before the courts and has not been thrown out, contrary to what it described as misleading reports circulating in the public domain.
The case had initially been scheduled for hearing on 28 April 2026, with the Acting Deputy Judge President allocating approximately four hours for proceedings.
However, complications arose during a review of the case papers, when the presiding judge reportedly concluded that the matter was more complex than initially anticipated and would require up to two days for a full hearing.
As a result, the case was referred back to the Acting Deputy Judge President for a fresh, specially allocated date on an urgent basis.
SAFA confirmed that it has since engaged its legal team, who have verified the sequence of events and the current status of the matter.
The association says it is now awaiting formal communication from the Acting Judge President of the High Court, Gauteng Division in Johannesburg, through its attorneys of record, after which it will provide further updates to the public.
