Sunday Megwo makes Tunisia move as Nigerian striker joins ES Sahel
Nigerian centre-forward Sunday Megwo has joined Tunisian Ligue 1 club ES Sahel from Abia Warriors, adding a 22-year-old striker to the side’s attacking options.
Megwo arrives after building his senior career in Nigeria’s NPFL, where he recorded 27 goals and eight assists in 84 appearances. He also featured twice in the CAF Confederation Cup, although he did not score in those appearances.
The move takes Megwo outside Nigeria for the first time in his recorded club career. He previously represented Abia Comets FC before joining Abia Warriors in March 2023, remaining with the Nigerian club until his switch to ES Sahel.
Megwo’s playing profile is centred on the striker position. He is 1.82m tall and favours his right foot, while his record in domestic competition provides the main statistical background to his arrival in Tunisia.
ES Sahel, also known as Etoile Sportive du Sahel, compete in Tunisia’s top flight. Megwo’s move from the NPFL to Ligue 1 represents a change of league and country as he begins the next stage of his club career.
The forward was born on 16 April 2004 and joins ES Sahel at the age of 22. He becomes part of a club whose domestic competition will provide a new setting for a player with extensive NPFL experience and appearances in continental football.
Megwo’s previous club career has been concentrated in Nigeria. His move to Abia Warriors followed his spell with Abia Comets, and he now leaves the country after more than three seasons with the Warriors.
The transfer was completed on 22 August 2026, with Megwo’s ES Sahel contract running until 30 June 2028.
