Senegalese teen Mor Talla Ndiaye named on Liverpool bench for first time
Senegalese teenager El Hadji Mor Talla Ndiaye took another step forward in his development at Liverpool after being named on the first-team bench for the first time during their match against Manchester United.
The 18-year-old defender was included in the matchday squad for the Premier League fixture, marking a significant milestone in his progression since joining the club’s academy earlier this year.
Although he did not feature in the game, his presence among the substitutes highlights his growing proximity to senior-level football.
Ndiaye arrived at Liverpool in January from Senegalese side Amitié FC and has since been integrating steadily within the club’s structure.
Initially part of the academy setup, he has in recent weeks been increasingly involved with the first team, regularly training under head coach Arne Slot and participating in match preparations.
His inclusion on the bench represents a continuation of that upward trajectory. Prior to this, he had been named in the extended squad for the match against Crystal Palace but did not make the final matchday selection.
This time, however, he secured a place among the substitutes during Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat away at Manchester United.
The development is seen as an important step in his adaptation to the demands of English football, particularly at a club competing at the highest level. Being part of the matchday environment offers valuable exposure, even without minutes on the pitch.
With only three matches remaining in the season, Ndiaye’s latest involvement raises the possibility of a senior debut before the campaign concludes. His steady progress suggests he is being carefully prepared for that opportunity.
The young defender’s rise reflects both his potential and the club’s confidence in his abilities. As he continues to train alongside senior players and gain experience within the first-team setup, attention will focus on whether he can take the next step and make his competitive debut in the near future.
