Felix Agu ruled out as muscle issues persist for Werder Bremen
Werder Bremen have confirmed that Felix Agu will not make his comeback this weekend, dashing hopes of a quick return for the full-back.
At Thursday’s press conference, the club announced that the 26-year-old will definitely miss the upcoming home game against FC Augsburg.
The news confirms fears that had grown in recent days, with Agu still unable to rejoin team training. Head coach Daniel Thioune had hoped to gradually reintegrate him into sessions this week, but that plan could not be put into action. Instead, Agu remains sidelined and continues to work away from the group as he battles ongoing fitness issues.
The defender is still struggling with muscular problems, which have already kept him out of the last two matches against VfB Stuttgart and Hamburger SV. His absence further limits Thioune’s options on the flanks at a key stage of the season.
Werder will now monitor his recovery closely over the coming days, but for the Augsburg clash at least, they will have to cope once again without the pace and energy Agu normally brings down the wing.
