South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has confirmed that Bafana Bafana are lining up two more international friendlies as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Belgian tactician revealed that the team is targeting a clash against Nicaragua on May 29, followed by a second warm-up match against Puerto Rico in early June, after completing a training camp in Mexico.

The fixtures are expected to form a key part of South Africa’s final preparation phase ahead of the global showpiece.

Broos’ side has already tested themselves against Panama in a pair of friendly encounters in March, part of an ongoing effort to sharpen the squad’s competitiveness and tactical readiness before the tournament kicks off.

The additional matches are designed to expose the team to different playing styles while building cohesion within a squad that has been undergoing steady development under the experienced coach.

South Africa’s qualification marks a significant return to the FIFA World Cup stage after a long absence, reigniting excitement among supporters eager to see Bafana Bafana compete among the world’s elite once again.

At the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, South Africa have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Mexico, South Korea and the Czech Republic — a challenging group that will test their progress and resilience on football’s biggest stage.
