Solet backs Udinese progress as French-Ivorian targets strong finish to season
Oumar Solet has expressed satisfaction with his development at Udinese this season, while urging the squad to maintain momentum as they push towards a strong finish in Serie A.
The French defender of Ivorian descent, who has grown into a more prominent role within the Zebrette setup, believes the campaign can still be judged positively if the team secures a few more points before the end of the season. With consistency still the target, Solet underlined the importance of closing the year on a high note.
“If we get another five or six points, the season will be really good,” he said.
On a personal level, the 26-year-old has also reflected on his own performances with measured satisfaction, acknowledging both progress and room for improvement as he continues adapting to top-flight Italian football. His assessment of the season so far was honest and self-critical, but largely positive.
“On a personal level, I’m happy with my season. I think we can always do better, but I’m happy: I’d give my season a 7.”
Solet has also been open about his long-term ambitions, making it clear that his move to Udinese was driven by a desire to test himself in one of Europe’s most tactical and competitive leagues.
Serie A has provided that platform, with the defender using his time in Italy to sharpen both his defensive awareness and overall game management.
“I want to be a great player and I’m doing my best to become one.”
He also emphasised his commitment to the club’s objectives, insisting his focus remains firmly on delivering consistent performances for Udinese rather than looking beyond the present.
“I knew from the start that if I came to Udine I could demonstrate my qualities in a league with big teams like Serie A, but for now I’m at Udinese and I want to give 100% for the team.”
