Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has confirmed that discussions are underway regarding a new contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, even as interest in his services continues to grow.

The 48-year-old, whose current deal runs until January 2027, has attracted attention from several clubs and national teams following Nigeria’s impressive third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Speaking to Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Chelle acknowledged that negotiations are ongoing but made it clear his focus remains firmly on coaching.

“There are financial issues to be discussed and resolved, but I’ve left that to my agent and the Federation. My priority is the job and the task at hand,” he said.

Chelle is now turning his attention to the upcoming 2026 Unity Cup, where he is expected to assess talent from the Nigeria Premier Football League ahead of naming his squad.

Nigeria will open their campaign against Zimbabwe in the semi-finals at the Valley on Tuesday, May 26, as they aim to defend the title they won in 2025.

The Super Eagles will also test themselves against European opposition, with international friendlies against Poland and Portugal scheduled for June.
