Ibrahim Maza attracts Europe’s elite as transfer battle gathers pace
Ibrahim Maza has become one of the most closely watched young midfielders in European football, with Manchester City among a growing list of elite clubs tracking the Bayer Leverkusen player.
The 20-year-old Algerian international has rapidly increased his profile in recent months, earning attention from several top sides despite modest statistical output this season.
In 24 appearances, he has recorded three goals and four assists, but it is his composure in tight spaces and tactical intelligence that has stood out to scouts across the continent.
According to German outlet Fussballdaten, Manchester City are long-term admirers of Maza and remain firmly interested.
However, they are not alone, with multiple Premier League clubs also monitoring his development closely as they consider midfield reinforcements for the future.
Arsenal are understood to be among those tracking the player, viewing him as a potential addition to strengthen their midfield options.
Meanwhile, Manchester City believe his versatility would suit Pep Guardiola’s tactical system, particularly given his ability to operate in several central roles.
Interest in Maza extends beyond England. Tottenham and Newcastle are also reported to be following his progress, with both clubs considering him as part of longer-term squad planning.
Their attention reflects the growing reputation of the midfielder within the Premier League scouting network.
Elsewhere in Europe, Atlético Madrid and Juventus are also keeping a close watch on the situation. Both clubs are known for their structured tactical approaches and are believed to see Maza as a player capable of adapting quickly to different styles of play.
In total, at least five major European clubs, alongside Manchester City, are understood to be monitoring the Algerian closely, underlining the scale of interest in his development.
Despite the growing speculation, a move in the near future appears unlikely. Bayer Leverkusen secured Maza on a long-term contract running until 2030 after signing him from Hertha Berlin, placing the German club in a strong negotiating position.
Leverkusen are not under pressure to sell and are reportedly confident that the midfielder’s value could rise significantly over time.
Any potential transfer would therefore require a substantial offer, with some internal estimates suggesting a future valuation approaching 90 million euros.
For now, Maza remains part of Leverkusen’s long-term plans, but interest from across Europe suggests a major transfer battle could develop in the coming years.
