Achraf Hakimi reaches new milestone at PSG

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has reached a new milestone at Paris Saint-Germain after surpassing club legends Ángel Di María and Edinson Cavani to become the fifth most-capped player in the club’s European competitions.

The milestone was reached following his appearance in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Liverpool, where Hakimi registered his 55th outing on the European stage.

His influence this season has extended beyond mere appearances, with the right-back emerging as one of the competition’s most effective creators. With five assists to his name, he currently ranks second among the tournament’s top providers, sitting just behind teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Operating along the right flank, Hakimi once again underlined his importance to the Parisian side, blending defensive discipline with attacking intent through his trademark speed and relentless energy.

Reaching this landmark carries added significance, as it sees Hakimi move ahead of two players who defined a successful era for the club. His rise in the rankings reflects both his growing influence and his consistency since arriving in Paris in 2021.

That consistency has been a defining feature of his time at PSG, with Hakimi maintaining a starting rate exceeding 90 per cent. His reliability recently saw him hit another major milestone, making his 200th appearance for the club earlier this month.

Now firmly established as one of the leaders within the squad’s defensive unit, Hakimi continues to evolve, embodying the qualities of the modern full-back while delivering on Europe’s biggest stage.
