Samuel Eto’o congratulates Muriqi after Mallorca record-breaking feat
Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o has congratulated Real Mallorca striker Vedat Muriqi after breaking his long-standing goal record at the club.
Muriqi made history last weekend by scoring his 55th goal in La Liga for Mallorca, surpassing the 54-goal tally set by Eto’o more than 20 years ago.
The milestone officially makes the Kosovan forward the club’s all-time leading scorer in the Spanish top flight.
Eto’o, who had held the record since his prolific spell with the club in the early 2000s, responded with class. In a video message shared on social media, the former Cameroon international congratulated Muriqi and praised his achievement.
“Hi Vedat, from here in Cameroon, I wanted to congratulate you. Congratulations on what you’ve just achieved. I know it took a huge amount of time, really a lot, but don’t forget to keep it up, keep fighting and make our Mallorca even greater,” Eto’o said.
He also acknowledged the team effort behind the record, adding: “Congratulations once again to you and to all the teammates who helped you reach this goal. Well done.”
Muriqi’s achievement marks a significant moment in Mallorca’s history, but the spotlight quickly turned to Eto’o’s gesture — a show of respect from a club legend to its new record holder.
The message reflects not only recognition of Muriqi’s consistency but also encouragement to keep pushing forward as he builds on his historic feat.
