AFCON 2025 Crowd Trouble: Prison sentences for Senegal fans upheld in morocco
Court rulings linked to crowd disturbances during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final in Morocco have been upheld, confirming prison terms for several supporters involved in the incident.
The sentences, handed down following post-match violence, remain unchanged and include three tiers of punishment: one year in prison with a fine of 5,000 dirhams, six months in prison with a 2,000 dirhams fine, and three months in prison with a 1,000 dirhams fine.
The case stems from disorder that erupted during the final of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 Final, hosted in Morocco, where authorities moved to prosecute individuals linked to crowd violence.
Among those sentenced is a French national of Algerian origin, who received a three-month jail term and a 1,000 dirhams fine after being found guilty of throwing a water bottle during the incident.
The rulings also affect several supporters of Senegal, whose involvement in the disturbances led to custodial sentences of varying lengths.
Authorities in Morocco have maintained a firm stance on stadium security and crowd control in the wake of the final, as legal proceedings connected to the incident continue to draw attention across African football circles.
