Wydad weigh Patrice Carteron sacking after poor start to second spell
Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club are reportedly considering parting ways with head coach Patrice Carteron just weeks after his return to the club.
Carteron was brought back to steady the ship following the dismissal of Mohamed Amine Benhachem, who was relieved of his duties after Wydad’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup at the hands of Olympique Club de Safi.
However, the Frenchman has so far been unable to reverse the team’s struggles, with results continuing to fall short of expectations.
Since taking charge, Carteron has overseen three matches, suffering defeats to Fath Union Sport and Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès, while managing only a draw against Difaa Hassani El Jadidi.
Reports suggest that pressure is mounting within the club’s hierarchy, with his future hanging in the balance ahead of the next round of fixtures. According to sources, any further slip-up could trigger swift action.
“Any setback for Wydad Casablanca in the next match or the one after that will mean the immediate dismissal of Carteron,” she stressed.
Wydad currently sit fourth in the Moroccan Professional League standings with 30 points, a position that falls short of the club’s ambitions and has only intensified scrutiny around the coaching situation.
