Marc Guéhi has expressed his enthusiasm about being at the heart of Manchester City’s growing Premier League title push, following an assured 3-0 victory over Chelsea that has injected fresh momentum into the race.

The defender, who opened his account in the competition for City, played a decisive role as Pep Guardiola’s side reduced the gap to leaders Arsenal to six points, with a crucial showdown looming and a game in hand still to play.

Guéhi’s performance at Stamford Bridge underlined both his defensive composure and increasing influence in key moments, as City delivered a controlled display, particularly after the break. His goal capped a dominant second-half showing, reflecting a side that appears to be gathering rhythm at a critical stage of the season. The result not only strengthens City’s credentials but also sets the tone ahead of a potentially defining clash with Arsenal next weekend.

Speaking after the match, Guéhi highlighted the collective nature of the performance, pointing to the importance of unity and continuous improvement within the squad.

He reserved special praise for teammate Rayan Cherki, whose creativity has added another dimension to City’s attacking play in recent weeks. The England international stressed the need for focus and consistency, urging his teammates to remain grounded despite the significance of the win.

“I think second-half especially we did well,” said Guéhi afterwards. “We just want to improve, just want to get better.

“When you have players like this guy (Rayan Cherki), it’s fantastic. Keep our feet on the ground, recover, and focus on the next one.

“The most important thing was we did the job today. We can focus on the game coming up now. Everyone did their job today. Thanks to everyone today for helping us and let’s just move onto the next one.”

Asked about being involved in a title chase, Guéhi said: ”It’s great, it’s fantastic.”
