South Africa name starting XI for Egypt friendly as Pitso Mosimane makes changes
South Africa face Egypt in an international friendly at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday evening, with coach Pitso Mosimane expected to alter his side after injuries to Teboho Mokoena and Bathusi Aubaas.
Bafana Bafana have made an impressive start under Mosimane, winning both of their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Their most recent result was their biggest, as South Africa defeated Eritrea 5-0 on Wednesday evening. Mosimane has now made changes for the meeting with Egypt, who will also go into the match after a convincing victory.
Egypt recorded their first win in the AFCON qualifiers on Tuesday, beating South Sudan 5-0. The seven-time African champions achieved that result without Mohamed Salah, who has already left the Egypt camp.
The sides last faced each other in the group stage of last year’s AFCON. Egypt won that match 1-0, with Salah scoring the decisive goal from the penalty spot.
