Egyptian outfit Al-Ittihad part ways with coach Tamer Mostafa
Egyptian outfit Al Ittihad Alexandria have officially announced the departure of head coach Tamer Mostafa, bringing an end to his tenure following a mutual agreement between both parties.
The decision comes in the immediate aftermath of the club’s 1-1 draw against Ismaily SC in the third round of the league’s relegation group—a result that appears to have accelerated developments behind the scenes.
In an official statement, the Alexandria-based club confirmed that Mostafa had submitted his resignation, which was accepted by the board in what was described as a respectful and amicable separation.
“Captain Tamer Mostafa has apologized for not continuing his duties as technical director of Al-Ittihad Alexandria Club following the team’s match,” the statement read.
“The board agreed to accept the apology, and both parties agreed to terminate the contract amicably in an atmosphere of mutual respect and appreciation, while thanking him for his efforts and contributions during the past period.”
Despite the sudden managerial change, the club has wasted no time in initiating the search for a replacement. The board revealed it is currently in continuous session, working urgently to appoint a new technical director, with an announcement expected within hours.
Al-Ittihad find themselves in a delicate position in the standings, currently sitting 10th in the relegation group—just four points above the drop zone. With the pressure mounting, the next managerial appointment could prove decisive in determining the club’s fate this season.
During his time in charge, Mostafa oversaw 23 matches, recording 6 wins, 8 draws, and 9 defeats. While there were moments of promise, inconsistency ultimately defined his spell at the helm.
Now, as the club navigates a critical phase of the campaign, attention turns to who will take over the reins and steer Al-Ittihad away from danger. The coming hours are expected to be crucial, with the future direction of the team hanging in the balance.
