Egyptian side Al-Ittihad considering Miloud Hamdi and Nabil Kouki for coaching job

Al Ittihad Alexandria are pursuing a foreign manager to take over the club, with Miloud Hamdi and Nabil Kouki emerging as the leading candidate for the job.

The Egyptian outfit are without a substantive manager following the departure of Tamer Mostafa. He stepped down from his role after reaching a mutual agreement with the club’s board, bringing an end to his tenure amid the team’s ongoing campaign.

Per reports, Al Ittihad has already outlined its next move—appointing a foreign technical director to take charge of the team.

“There is a clear direction within the club to bring in a foreign coach,” the source revealed, indicating a strategic decision aimed at revitalizing performances and introducing a new tactical identity.

Two prominent names have quickly risen to the top of the shortlist: Miloud Hamdi and Nabil Kouki, both of whom are well-known figures in Egyptian football.

Hamdi, the Algerian-French tactician, previously managed Ismaily SC but parted ways with the club in January after a mutual agreement. His spell saw him oversee 19 matches, recording 4 wins, 2 draws, and 13 defeats, a mixed run that ultimately led to his exit.

On the other hand, Kouki brings a more stable record from his recent stint with Al Masry SC. The Tunisian coach left his role earlier this month following a heavy 4-0 defeat to Zamalek SC in the opening round of the league’s championship group. Across 37 matches in charge, Kouki secured 16 wins, 13 draws, and 8 losses, showcasing a more balanced performance overall.

As Al-Ittihad weigh their options, the decision now hinges on choosing a coach capable of stabilising results while implementing a long-term vision. Both candidates offer familiarity with the Egyptian league, which could prove crucial in ensuring a smooth transition.
