Zamalek midfielder Abdel Rahim vows positive result against Belouizdad

Zamalek midfielder Ahmed Abdel Rahim insists his outfit is focused to secure positive result against CR Belouizdad in the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Egyptian giants are set to travel to Algeria for the first leg encounter next Friday at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 9 pm. With a place in the final on the line, tensions are rising ahead of what promises to be a fiercely competitive showdown.

At the pre-match conference, Abdel Rahim acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge, emphasizing that reaching the semi-finals is proof of quality on both sides.

“Whoever reaches the Confederation Cup semi-finals is certainly a strong competitor, and we know the importance and difficulty of the match,” he said.

The Zamalek winger revealed that the team has done its homework, carefully analyzing Belouizdad’s performances—particularly their encounter against Al Masry SC—to better understand their strengths and weaknesses.

“We watched their match against Al Masry and got to know the opponent very well. Everyone is focused in order to achieve a positive result and qualify for the final,” he added.

Abdel Rahim also addressed concerns over the absence of first-choice goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi, insisting that Zamalek’s squad depth ensures stability between the posts.

“There is no primary goalkeeper or backup goalkeeper in Zamalek—everyone is capable of protecting the White Castle’s goal,” he stressed.

Despite acknowledging the challenge, he made it clear that Zamalek will approach the game with confidence and belief, not fear.

“Zamalek does not fear any competitor. We respect everyone, but the team’s value gives it strength against any opponent,” he concluded.
