Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has expressed support for any investigation into alleged corruption within the organisation, insisting that CAF has nothing to conceal.

Speaking after meetings with Senegalese football officials and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in Dakar on Wednesday, Motsepe said the governing body would fully cooperate with any inquiry initiated by government authorities or independent institutions.

His comments come in the wake of Senegal’s call last month for an investigation into alleged corruption following the controversial outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

Senegal were initially involved in the title-deciding clash, which ended amid contentious refereeing decisions and on-field protests, before the CAF Appeal Board awarded the trophy to Morocco.

The CAF president emphasised the need for unity following the fallout from the final, noting that discussions in Dakar focused on restoring harmony within African football. He is scheduled to continue similar engagements in Morocco.

“I would welcome any investigation into corruption at CAF, be it by a government or any institution,” Motsepe told reporters. “In fact, I would encourage it. We will give them our full cooperation.

“I have been told there were problems in the past and we intervened. It is not just in football, but in business and politics too. We cannot give our children the perception that if you want to ‌succeed in life, be corrupt. There has to be zero tolerance (for corruption).

“That’s the best gift we can give football in Africa. Not just talking about corruption, but intervene, put the necessary laws (in place) and implement them.”

Meanwhile, Motsepe is expected to visit Morocco today to hold official talks with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
