Ivorian star Amad Diallo backs Michael Carrick for Manchester United job
Ivory Coast international Amad Diallo has backed Michael Carrick for permanent Manchester United coaching job following an impressive performance.
Carrick, a legend of the Premier League giants replaced Ruben Amorim early January 2026 and has delivered a remarkable performance for the club.
Since his arrival, Carrick has seven of his 10 games in charge of Manchester United, a run which includes wins over giants Arsenal, Manchester City, and Aston Villa.
Besides, Carrick has steered the Red Devils to the third spot in the Premier League table and are on course for Champions League qualification.
His outstanding performance has not gone unnoticed, with club legends and a chunk of fans calling for the permanent appointment of Carrick.
Carrick is one of several names under consideration. Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino and Gareth Southgate are among several other coaches being linked with the role.
However, the Ivorian international has thrown his weight behind Carrick for the Manchester United job, stressing he is the right man to lead the team since he knows the club’s DNA.
“From a personal view he’s the right man,” said the Ivorian. “He has a lot of experience; he knows the club and has the DNA.
“His relationship with every player is very good. Sometimes this kind of manager can bring the club where they belong.
“It’s not the players who decide but my honest opinion is we’re really happy to have Michael Carrick as a manager.” He said.
