Senegal to play two friendlies in June

Senegal  will continue their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with two high-profile friendly matches scheduled for late May and early June, as the team fine-tunes its strategy ahead of the global tournament.

The announcement was confirmed by Abdoulaye Fall, president of the Senegalese Football Federation, marking another important step in the team’s build-up after an encouraging international break in March.

Senegal will first face the United States men’s national soccer team on May 31 in Charlotte, in what promises to be a competitive test against a fast-improving side and one of the co-hosts of the World Cup.

The second fixture will see the Lions of Teranga take on the Saudi Arabia national football team on June 9 in San Antonio. This match will offer another tactical challenge against a team known for its discipline and organization.

Head coach Pape Thiaw will use these fixtures to assess his squad, test different formations, and refine key tactical approaches ahead of the tournament. With the World Cup just around the corner, these matches are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the final squad and starting XI.

Senegal have been drawn into a challenging group at the tournament, where they will face France national football team, Norway national football team, and Iraq national football team in Group I. Each opponent presents a unique challenge, making these upcoming friendlies vital for preparation.

The March international window already provided a positive foundation, and the upcoming matches will give Senegal an opportunity to build on that momentum. With a blend of experienced leaders and emerging talents, the team will aim to arrive at the World Cup in peak condition.

As anticipation builds, all eyes will be on Senegal’s performances in these friendlies, as the Lions of Teranga continue their quest to make a strong impact on the world stage.
