Egyptian club says Algeria move will not happen despite interest from USM Alger

Al-Masry Al-Portsaidi have denied reports that Abdelrahim Daghmoum is set to leave the Egyptian club for Algerian side USM Alger before the registration deadline.

The club’s board member Mohamed Moussa said Daghmoum will remain with Al-Masry despite interest from the Algerian club, ending speculation over the player’s immediate future.

Moussa confirmed that USM Alger had made an approach for the player but insisted there was no agreement for the Algeria move.

Mohammed Moussa told Al-Watan Sport: “What has been circulating about Abdelrahim Daghmoum leaving for USM Alger has no basis in truth because the player is staying with us, even though the Algerian team had requested to sign him.”

The statement comes with the Algerian registration deadline approaching on 31 August 2026, leaving limited time for any potential change in the situation.

USM Alger interest fails to produce transfer

Daghmoum had been linked with a move to USM Alger, with the Algerian club reportedly requesting his signing before the end of the registration period.

However, Al-Masry’s position is clear: the player is staying in Port Said.

The club’s response puts an end, for now, to reports that the Algerian side could secure the midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Although USM Alger expressed interest, no agreement has been reached to take Daghmoum away from Al-Masry.

The Egyptian club therefore continues to count on the player as preparations continue for the new Egyptian League campaign.

Al-Masry prepare for Al-Mokawloon

While speculation surrounding Daghmoum’s future has continued, Al-Masry have turned their attention to their next league fixture.

The first-team squad is preparing to face Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab at Suez Stadium in the second round of the Egyptian League.

The match will take place next Thursday as Al-Masry look to build on their opening result of the campaign.

The club’s management has also paid bonuses to the players following their victory over Smouha.

The payments were intended to reward the squad for that result and provide additional motivation ahead of the meeting with Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab.

Daghmoum remains part of Al-Masry plans

With the club publicly rejecting reports of his departure, Daghmoum remains part of Al-Masry’s squad as the team prepares for its next league challenge.

USM Alger’s interest has therefore not resulted in a transfer, despite the Algerian club’s request to sign the player.

For Al-Masry, the immediate focus is now on the league and the upcoming match against Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab.

The club’s management has made its position on Daghmoum clear, with Moussa insisting that the player will remain in Port Said despite the interest from Algeria.
