Barcelona put Cameroon striker Christian Kofane on transfer target list
FC Barcelona have reportedly added young Cameroonian striker Christian Kofane to their transfer shortlist ahead of the summer window, as the club continues to explore options to strengthen its attack.
According to Diario Sport, the Catalan giants are monitoring the Bayer Leverkusen forward as a potential alternative should their pursuit of Julián Álvarez not materialise. Barcelona are said to view the highly rated youngster as a promising long-term investment with significant upside.
Kofane’s agent, Eric Depolo, recently disclosed that Arsenal are currently leading the race for the 19-year-old’s signature.
However, he also confirmed that Barcelona are among several top European clubs that have made contact to explore the possibility of a transfer.
The teenager has been one of the standout performers in his debut season in the Bundesliga, registering nine goals and eight assists across all competitions for Leverkusen. His impressive form has quickly elevated his profile, with his market value now estimated to be between €60 million and €70 million.
Despite their interest in Kofane, Barcelona’s primary objective remains the signing of Álvarez from Atlético Madrid.
Nevertheless, the emergence of alternative targets highlights the club’s determination to reinforce their attacking options as they prepare for the new season.
