Vincent Kompany lauds Serge Gnabry after brace in dominant Bayern win
Vincent Kompany hailed Serge Gnabry’s impact after the winger came off the bench to score twice in Bayern Munich’s 4-0 demolition of Union Berlin.
The result capped a commanding display at the Allianz Arena, but the coach was keen to stress it did not come easily.
“We started the match well and felt comfortable from beginning to end,” Kompany said. “However, we must not forget that it took time to score the first goal. Union defended very well during that phase, and that deserves recognition.
“Then we showed our quality. Still, scoring four goals is never something to take for granted. One of our biggest strengths is that different players keep stepping up in attack. I hope we can maintain that. Today it was Serge Gnabry. I am very pleased for him, because he is one of those players who is often underestimated.”
Gnabry’s brace, along with goals from Michael Olise and Harry Kane, underlined Bayern’s attacking depth and offered another reminder of how dangerous Kompany’s side can be when their forwards are in full flow.
