Michy Batshuayi returns to boost Eintracht Frankfurt attack

Michy Batshuayi is back available for Eintracht Frankfurt after recovering from his metatarsal fracture, giving Albert Riera an important extra option in attack ahead of the Bundesliga clash with Mainz 05 on Sunday afternoon.

The 32-year-old striker has returned to team training in time for the home game and immediately strengthens the squad’s depth up front.

Head coach Albert Riera welcomed the situation at his press conference, saying he had “very good news” on the fitness front, noting that apart from two players, the entire squad is ready for selection. That renewed competition for places in the forward line could prove valuable as Frankfurt push for a strong finish to the season.

Whether Batshuayi will go straight back into the matchday squad or be eased in more carefully remains open, with the staff likely to manage his minutes after a significant injury layoff.

What is clear, though, is that the experienced Belgian’s return offers Eintracht greater flexibility, more goal threat from the bench, and fresh tactical options for Riera in the decisive weeks ahead.

Michy Batshuayi has played six games and scored one goal in the Bundesliga this season.
