Ismael Saibari scores and assists as Bayern Munich thrash Magdeburg 6-1 in German Cup
Moroccan international Ismael Saibari delivered an impressive performance, scoring one goal and providing an assist as Bayern Munich cruised to a commanding 6-1 victory over Magdeburg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday evening.
The encounter at the Allianz Arena saw Saibari play a key role in Bayern’s attacking display, contributing directly to two goals as the Bavarian giants secured their place in the next round of the competition.
Bayern made a strong start, with Saibari setting up Michael Olise for the opening goal in the 10th minute. However, Magdeburg responded five minutes later, drawing level in the 15th minute to briefly threaten the hosts.
Saibari restored Bayern’s advantage in the 21st minute, finishing a move created by Olise to make it 2-1 and put the home side back in front.
The Moroccan midfielder’s goal helped Bayern regain control of the contest, with the hosts carrying their advantage into the second half before extending their lead.
Olise converted a penalty in the 51st minute to make it 3-1, before Alphonso Davies added the fourth goal in the 70th minute.
Nathaniel Brown struck three minutes later to increase Bayern’s advantage, leaving Magdeburg with little opportunity to recover as the home side continued to dominate.
Substitute David Santos completed the scoring in stoppage time, finding the net in the 90+3rd minute to seal an emphatic 6-1 victory for Bayern and confirm their progression to the next round.
For Saibari, the performance represents another important contribution to his campaign as he continues to make an impact in Bayern’s first-team setup.
The Moroccan international has now recorded three goals and three assists in 13 appearances across all competitions this season, underlining his growing influence in the team’s attacking play.
His contribution against Magdeburg will provide further encouragement as Bayern continue their pursuit of silverware on multiple fronts, with Saibari hoping to maintain his form and earn more opportunities as the season progresses.
